Sensitazation Of Principal Chiefs

On the 1st and 5th June 2015 the Office of the Ombudsman visited the Principal Chiefs at the following places, Ha Ramabanta, Ha Maama, Rothe and Thaba Bosiu in Maseru district.The Office paid the Principal Chiefs visits during their usual meetings that they hold in the beginning of every month with their surrounding chiefs.The aim of these visits was to inform the Chiefs about the functions and duties of the Office of the Ombudsman and to ask them to spread the messages to their different communities.

After the presentations by the Ombudsman Officers it was discovered that there were common questions asked by the Chiefs; for example if the Ombudsman determinations can be challenged and whether his recommendations were binding or not.They also recommended that these visits should be done regularly as they were now informed about the work of the office of the Ombudsman.

In these visits 125 chiefs were addressed.
