Office Of The Ombudsman Celebrate National AIDS Day
This year the Office of the Ombudsman celebrated National AIDS Day on Friday, 28th November 2014 by visiting an orphanage home named Ministry of Hope Lesotho in Katlehong, Maseru. The intention was to lend a hand and give the Home some packets of washing powder and some snacks.
In an interview with the owner of the Home Mrs Mamonyane Mohale, this orphanage was registered in 2009. They are currently caring for 28 children aged from 0 to 16 years and this Home operates around the clock.
Some of these children have been referred to her by the Ministry of Social Development, while others are from closed orphanages. There are also those that are referred by clinics or hospitals because of malnutrition.
Mrs Mohale said that she takes care of children’s food and educational needs, but there are individuals and other local groups of people who volunteer by giving out food packages. She mentioned that Dr Metsing (pediatrician) has volunteered to take care of the children’s health. She further said that other donations are from some American Churches
Some of these children are adopted by people from different countries which have an agreement with Lesotho, for example; Netherlands, America, Canada and Sweden.
In conclusion, Mrs Mohale said she appreciated our visit to the Home and reminded us that “blessed is the hand that giveth than the one that taketh”
